It is very special to cruise into Venice and see this remarkable city they way it should be — from the sea!
Our ship slowly approaches Venice – coming first to some outer islands that form the barrier that creates the Grand Lagoon.
There is a black & white checked , modern lighthouse structure that marks the entrance.
Several small ships start to come along side us and greet us as we come into port. One boat was speeding along – until a police boat signalled to them to slow down!
As we draw closer, all I can say is I love Venice as we sailed past St. Mark’s Square heading to the Maritime Port.
So, we entered port and sailed past St. Mark’s Square (Plaza, Piazzile, etc.) and headed to the Maritime Port. I was excited about getting off the ship and exploring !
